Helping young people with special educational needs to help themselves

Churchward School Consultation-share your views

Dear All,

As you may be aware, in response to the growing need for SEN provision in Swindon, Uplands School is working on a project to open Churchward School. Churchward School will be a free school for young people with autism and/or social communication and interaction difficulties.

Churchward School will be an exciting and innovative school offering similar bespoke packages as are currently offered within our Learning Mentor Programme at Uplands School. The new school will be opening in temporary accommodation in Lydiard Millicent in September 2018 and will move to its permanent site in North Swindon in September 2019.

We need to show the Department for Education that there is support for this new school from across Swindon. We would be very grateful if you could complete the survey linked below:

Churchward Survey

Please forward this link to your friends and families if you feel that they would also like to support Churchward School.

We would also like to invite you to a meeting to find out more about the new school, and so we will be running a consultation event on Thursday 4th January between 5:00pm-7:00pm at Uplands SchoolPlease do come along to have a cup of tea and ask any questions you may have.

If you would like to attend the consultation event please register with ECarter or contact cartere@uplands.swindon.sch.uk

We are really excited about this new school that will sit within the Brunel SEN Multi-Academy Trust and know that it will be a fantastic and much needed new autism provision for Swindon.

Many thanks,

Jackie Smith MBE
